“Love namin kayo” spot has already earned 8 million views across social
A new spot by Leo Burnett Manila for McDonald’s lovingly salutes the role parents play in their children’s lives. The 60-second ad, “Love namin kayo” ( “We Love You”), is a series of slice-of-life moments of mothers and fathers with their sons and daughters. Even the most mundane acts – toweling off a wet child after a bath or folding laundry late at night – is suffused with much tenderness.
Adding to the sweetness is the Filipino hit song “Handog (Offering),” sung by a chorus of children.
“Love namin kayo” has already earned 8 million views across McDonald’s social channels, as well as thousands of responses from consumers, in the few days since its release on January 3. Online comments from viewers pay tribute to their own parents, and young parents are using this ad as a reminder to affirm their love to their own children.
McDonald’s has experienced success in the category of family emotional appeal in the Philippines, especially in 2010. The Creative Guild of the Philippines awarded McDonald’s the Ad of the Decade for “Lolo (Grandfather),” another memorable and effective ad that focused on family.
