Remembering Veterans in Leo Burnett Toronto’s Touching ‘Poppy’ Spot
To coincide with Remembrance Day on Nov. 11, Bell Canada and Leo Burnett Toronto crafted a short film in honor of the country’s veterans.
In the 90-second spot, “Poppy,” a young girl sees a decorated veteran (one of two actual veterans who appear in the ad, according to Adnews) handing out plastic poppies. Curious, she searches online to learn about the scarlet flower’s significance, and she soon gets drawn into its symbolic role dating back to the end of World War I in honoring veterans.
The ad subtly showcases Bell’s network coverage, as the young girl does her extensive research online across multiple devices. And in a bound-to-make-you-weepy moment, the young girl and the veteran unite at the end.
