Leo Burnett MENA’s Mouzannar and Ghorayeb Named Most Awarded Creatives in Big Won Rankings

Leo Burnett agencies, campaigns and talent honored while network is second most awarded globally

Leo Burnett Middle East and North Africa’s (MENA) Bechara Mouzannar and Malek Ghorayeb are the most awarded chief creative officer and executive creative director in Directory’s Big Won Rankings 2015. Leo Burnett moved up from fourth place in 2014 to the No. 2 spot for top networks in the world.

Four agencies made the top 20 list of agencies for creativity: Leo Burnett Beirut ranked fourth, Leo Burnett Toronto ranked 10th, Leo Burnett Sydney ranked 12th, and Leo Burnett Chicago ranked 16th.

"Looking at the rankings, there is one agency that really shouldn’t be in the Top 10 for 2015. Leo Burnett Beirut,” Patrick Collister, publisher of the ranking, said regarding Leo Burnett Beirut’s accomplishments. “After all, this is a small agency in a small country, which just happens to be situated in one of the most politically sensitive parts of the world. And yet, there it is. I was fortunate enough to visit Lebanon twice in 2015 and was struck by how determined the people of that country are to live normal lives in monstrously abnormal circumstances. The advertising community is at the forefront of this. Leo Burnett Beirut in particular is attempting to use creativity to tackle sagging morale and endemic corruption.” Read Collister’s full commentary here.

In addition to Mouzannar and Ghorayeb, the network’s top talent proved a formidable force in this year’s ranking. Andy DiLallo of Sydney is the sixth most awarded creative chief officer. AJ Hassan who contributed to the “#LikeAGirl” campaign, was fourth on the top copywriters list, while Lama Bawadi of Beirut ranked 10th. Hmi Hmi Gibbs of Chicago and Nick Bygraves of London both ranked fourth on list of top art directors. For top planners, Karuna Rawal and Rachel Darville of Chicago and Anna Coscia of London ranked second; Laura Jones of London ranked third; Samer Shoueiry and Tina Sioufi from Beirut ranked fourth; Youmna El Asmar, also from Beirut, ranked 10th.
