Spikes Asia Results 2010

The Spikes Asia 2010 commenced this week and featured quite a bit of groundbreaking work… including much of our own.  Leo Burnett took home a total of 40 Spike awards including two coveted Grand Prix, four Gold, 10 Silver and 24 Bronze, making us the second most awarded agency-network at Spikes Asia, the region’s premier advertising festival and award show. Leo Burnett Sydney’s work for Canon EOS (Photochains) and WWF (Monkey) scooped the prestigious Grand Prix awards. Out of the four Gold Spikes, two were also awarded to Canon EOS (Photochains). The other two Gold Spikes were won by Leo Burnett Hong Kong for its work for Zoo Records (Hidden Sound) and Leo Burnett Shanghai’s work for Supor (Non-stick Pans). Eleven Leo Burnett offices – Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Mumbai, Sydney, Manila, Guangzhou, Melbourne, Singapore, Tokyo, and Bangkok – contributed to the impressive haul, which included work from brands including P&G, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Canon, Bajaj, WWF, MCYS, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Subaru, Kinokuniya, Supor, Zoo Records, Haomei Aluminum, seek.com.au, Christina Nobel and Sambhavna. Our own Chief Creative Officer Mark Tutssel was quoted in the Economic Times, stating as much when he said “Creativity from this side of the world is something that is astounding.”  And on LB’s success, Tutssel offered:

Asia Pacific is rapidly growing and is a hotbed of creativity. This incredible performance at Asia’s biggest award show demonstrates the collective creative firepower of Leo Burnett in the region”.

Overall, Australia was the most awarded country this year, totaling 78 awards among its agencies.  A record 1,400 delegates attended this year across 23 countries, as Spikes continues the capture the attention of the global advertising community.  Speakers included a world-class lot of industry luminaries, including Tutssel, who delivered the “HumanKind” presentation to an audience over 1,000.
