Springboard: When Careers Take Off - Aman Mannan
In this latest edition of Springboard, we continue to celebrate our people’s greatest successes with a look back on how they got to where they are today.
Aman Mannan was recently named Group Executive Creative Director of Leo Burnett India. Joining the agency with an already international award-winning career, LB India’s new top creative shares that “aha” moment that propelled him to the top.
Way back in 2006 I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and the hand belonged to Prasoon Joshi, chairman of Mccann Erickson India. He told me that my work had picked up a spate of awards at the local show Goafest, and that I would be up for writer of the year. Fumbling with words, I said an apologetic “Thank you.” He smiled and said, “Let’s drink.” That day changed my life, my conversations and my beliefs altogether. The world now believed in what I had to say. In meetings they would look at me for opinions. I suddenly mattered. I was sent to international award functions, was made to lead businesses and was pushed to win more. Which we did, thankfully, in India and away. Yes, that hand on the shoulder changed my life.
