Lay’s
Smart Farm
As climate change upends seasonal patterns, it’s wreaking havoc on India’s agriculture. The country has already lost more than $5.1 billion in crops. As one potato farmer told us, “Our age-old knowledge is irrelevant.” Lay’s saw a way to help the 27,000 farmers it partners with across India. Teaming up with Cropin, an organization dedicated to narrowing the digital divide across the global agriculture ecosystem, we created Smart Farm. The platform blends satellite imagery, AI and weather forecasting data to create an early-warning system for farmers. Smart Farm tells Lay’s Indian farmers where and what human intervention is needed—and is helping to make its farming climate resilient.
